Thought of Wisdom 04-24-2013

God wants to completely take care of us and has already supplied our needs and wants.  What we must do is “let go” of all these earthly comfort zones on which we rely and choose instead to trust God.  Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal those places in your heart that belong to Him but which you have not been able to give over to Him.  He is waiting!  He will help you to become totally free of the world’s way of doing things and reliance on your own self-efforts.

The World Behind Me, Part 1

In 1 John 2:12-17  and 1 John 5:21 (Amplified Bible) the Apostle John has some very specific instructions for all of us, which I think applies particularly to the days in which we are living.  Some of these instructions are to fathers, children, and young men, but I think every one of us can heed these words of wisdom.

I am writing to you, little children, because for His name’s sake YOUR SINS ARE FORGIVEN [pardoned through His name and on account of confessing His name].

I am writing to you, fathers, because YOU HAVE COME TO KNOW (recognize, be aware of, and understand) HIM Who [has existed] from the beginning.

I am writing to you, young men, because you HAVE BEEN VICTORIOUS OVER THE WICKED [ONE].

I write to you, boys (lads), because you have come to know (RECOGNIZE AND BE AWARE OF) THE FATHER.

I write to you, fathers, because you have come to know (recognize, be conscious of, and UNDERSTAND) HIM WHO [HAS EXISTED] FROM THE BEGINNING.

I write to you, young men, because you are STRONG AND VIGOROUS, AND THE WORD OF GOD IS [ALWAYS] ABIDING IN YOU (IN YOUR HEARTS), AND YOU HAVE BEEN VICTORIOUS OVER THE WICKED ONE.

Thought of Wisdom 04-23-2013

John tells us that he is writing to us to remind us that our sins are forgiven; we have come to know the Lord; we are victorious over the enemy; we recognize the Father; Jesus existed from the beginning; we are strong and vigorous; the Word of God abides in us.

Words of Wisdom 04-23-2013

We are strong and vigorous, and the Word of God abides in us in victory.

There is only one way to take on God’s mind.  He has given us this Word of His, which expresses His whole way of operating His Kingdom.  It is the direct opposite to everything we see in this world.  We must come into obedience to His Word and to Him in order to thrive in this present world.  We can either be just surviving with our head barely above the water, or we can thrive in spite of what is going on around us.

God’s Spirit of Power and Love and a Sound Mind, Part 2

Let’s talk a little bit more about God’s power and then move on to discussing His Love and the sound mind He has given us.

In Ephesians 3:20 we see that God will do exceeding abundantly above all that we can ask or think, infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes or dreams in consequence of or according to the action of His power that is at work within us.  It is our choice.  We can choose to believe that we are dynamic powerhouses for God, or we can choose to believe that we can’t make it.  God gives us choices all the time.

God’s power is there in us and is available for us to walk victoriously.

Secondly, God’s Love is in us.  Romans 5:5 tells us that the love of God has been shed abroad or poured forth in our hearts by the Holy Ghost.  In 1 John we are told that God is Love.  His Love is His power source.  He is all Love.  We are all Love if we are His child.  We are Love if we are His child.  God has given us a Spirit of Love, His Love.

Thirdly, God has given us a sound mind.  He has given us the mind of Christ, to hold the thoughts, feelings and purposes of His heart (1 Corinthians 2:16).  When we look at the words “sound mind,” they come from root words that mean to fence or enclose, stop, silence, to rein in or curb.  Figuratively, they mean feelings or understanding.  God has given us His mind to silence and stop the thoughts of the enemy that continually bombard us.  He has given us His mind to rein in or curb, cast down, and bring into captivity every thought that exalts itself against the knowledge of God.  When we take on His mind, we are in obedience to Him.  We align our feelings and understanding with Him.

Once again, it is a choice, not just daily, but sometimes moment by moment.  Choose you this day whom you will serve:  We choose God and His Word.

Hallowed Be Thy Name, Part 2

God is ADONAI.

He is the Lord my Master.

He is the Lord my Ruler.

A master is one who rules, governs, or directs.  He is the one who has supreme dominion or supreme authority to exercise as he determines is best for those whom he governs.  He is the one in charge.  As we know or should know, God does not rule with an iron fist.  He directs us with love and compassion and mercy and grace.  He never pushes.  He waits to help us.  We only have to call on Him and He is right there, available.  He is in us and with us and for us and around us.

God is with us in the person of the Holy Spirit, Whom Jesus said the Father would send to us in Jesus’ name.  The Holy Spirit is sent to be our Teacher, Comforter, Counselor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor, Strengthener, Standby (John 16:7 and John 14:26 Amplified Bible).  This description of the Holy Spirit is a description of the kind of governing and ruling we have.  He is gentle and kind, directing with firmness but never harshness.

One always governs by what is inside them.  Galatians 3:22,23 is a description of what the Holy Spirit is.  He is love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness or kindness, goodness, faith or faithfulness, meekness or gentleness and humility, and self-control.  This is what the Holy Spirit is.

The best description of God’s rulership or governing for us as His children is illustrated in Psalm 23.  He is our SHEPHERD to lead us and guide us and feed us and protect us.  He refreshes us and restores our life.

God is EL SHADDAI, THE ALMIGHTY GOD!

El is singular for Elohim.

Shaddai:  Sufficient or self-sufficient, Almighty, the One Who is mighty to nourish, satisfy and supply.

El Shaddai:  The God Who is all sufficient.  The God Who is more than enough.  The God of plenty.  The abundant God.  The bread provider.

Genesis 17:1

And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before Me, and be though perfect.

The name El Shaddai carries with it the understanding that God can handle any situation that confronts you.  He has everything that is needed to overcome the circumstance in which you find yourself.  Is it healing you need?  He is the Healer.  Is it a bill that needs paid?  He is the Provider.  Is it a child that is wayward?  He is the Savior.  He is all and He has all.  There is nothing He doesn’t have.  He has got you covered.

God is in control.  He is all-powerful.  He is all sufficient.  He is the Sufficient One.  He doesn’t see obstacles or problems because He is the answer to those problems and the One Who has the power to remove obstacles.  He is in control.  His promises, His Word is bigger than any problem you will ever face.  He is bigger!

John 10:10b and Ephesians 3:20, KJV and Amplified Bible

…I am come that they (you) might have and enjoy life and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).  God is able to do superabundantly above all that we dare ask or think, infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes or dreams.

Peter’s Mother-In-Law Healed, Matthew 8:14-17

When Jesus went into Peter’s house, He saw Peter’s mother-in-law lying sick with a fever.

Jesus touched her hand, and the fever left her.  She rose up and ministered to them.

Well, that is pretty straightforward.

She was sick.  Jesus touched her.  She was well.  She got up and probably cooked and fed Jesus and the people with Him.

I believe what this is portraying to us is that healing is easy.  It is simple and not complicated at all.  Jesus is there for us.  He touches us and the sickness leaves.  I can hear you talking right now.  Well, it sure hasn’t left me!  Really!  Is Jesus different with you than he is with others.  Only believe.  And keep on believing, regardless of how impossible it seems.  Don’t let go.

If Jesus healed one, He must heal all, because He is no respecter of persons.  He has obligated Himself by healing one, to heal all.  That is the way God operates.  He treats everyone equally.  Don’t let satan lie to you and steal from you.  He is a thief and the father of liars.  Those are lying symptoms.  You have been given authority by Jesus to tell him and his lying symptoms to pack their bags and vacate the premises.  Then put up a great big sign.  This body is occupied by Jesus Christ.  No vacancy here.

After Jesus had healed Peter’s mother-in-law, when evening came, people brought their sick to Him.   I know that when they heard He was there, they wanted Him to touch them and make them and their loved ones well.  They believed.

That evening Jesus did all kinds of things.  Those who were under the power of demons, He drove out the spirits with His Word.  He restored to health ALL WHO WERE SICK.

He did this that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying, Himself took in order to carry away our weaknesses and infirmities, and bore away our diseases.

Did you see what Jesus did?  He restored to health every sick person who was brought to Him.  And we have the answer as to why He did it.  He did it to show us that He carried away all our weaknesses and bore away all our diseases.  He had not even gone to the cross yet to bear these things.  Yet, as a demonstration of what was to come, Jesus healed all who were sick.  This was His word to us who were yet to be born and to live on this earth.

Jesus has one photograph in His mind for everyone.  HE HEALS ALL WHO ARE SICK!  That is His vision.  That is what He sees.  He sees nothing else.  He has nothing else on His mind.  As far as He is concerned, sickness is history, gone forever.  This is the photograph He wants each of us to have in our hearts.  Sickness is history, gone forever.

Oh, I know we sometimes have to fight those thoughts of sickness when the pain is intense and the fever rages.  But at some point we have to decide what we will accept as truth.  Will we accept the symptoms as truth and give in to them or will we fight and accept God’s Word as truth that He is our Healer and that He loves us too much to leave us sick.

It is a choice, and sometimes what seems to be a hard choice.  It is perceived as a hard choice because in this world that is not the way it is.  People make fun of you when you choose the route of God’s healing and health.  They tell you that you are chasing pipe dreams.  They tell you that it is unrealistic.  Well, that is a choice each of us must make.  Do we believe Jesus or do we believe the world?
