Prayer Quote 04-14-2013

Hallowed means honored, consecrated or set apart as holy.  It is interesting to note that in other languages the same words for hallowed are the words for sound, safe, whole, safety, happiness, entire, heal.  I notice also that the root words for holy are heal and whole.  Don’t these English words describe our Lord and what He makes available for us as His very own children!

The Centurion’s Servant Healed, Matthew 8:5-13

When Jesus entered Capernaum, a centurion came up to Him, begging Him:  “Lord, my servant is lying at the house sick of palsy (paralyzed) and grievously tormented, distressed with intense pain.”   (A centurion was a Roman military officer.)  Jesus simply said to him:  “I will come and heal him.”

The centurion taken by surprise, said:  “Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof.  I am not fit.  But speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.  For I am a man under authority, with soldiers subject to me.  I say to one of them ‘Go’ and he goes.  I say to another, ‘Come’ and he comes.  I say to my slave, ‘Do this,” and he does it.”

When Jesus heard what the centurion said, He marveled and said to those who followed Him:

“Truly or verily I tell you, I HAVE NOT FOUND SO GREAT FAITH AS THIS WITH ANYONE, even in Israel.”

“And I say to you that many shall come from the east and the west and shall sit down with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.  But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness:  there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”  Here Jesus was talking about the Jews rejecting Him and the time of the Gentiles brought forward for a season.

Then Jesus turned to the centurion and said:  “Go your way; it shall be done for you as you have believed.”

And his servant was healed, restored to health at that very moment.

There is much we can learn from this healing.  The man asking for healing was not even a Jew; he was a Gentile.  Jesus had come for the Jews at that point and had not died yet and taken on our sins and sicknesses for the whole world, regardless of race or culture.  According to that time period, he should not have even been allowed to talk with Jesus.  Jesus was, as far as everyone was concerned, born a Jew.  He had no business talking to a Gentile, particularly the hated Roman military man.  Yet here Jesus was talking to him and sending healing his way.

The next thing we observe is that the centurion was not even asking for healing for himself; he was asking for healing for someone else.  And the servant was healed by Jesus speaking the word to the Centurion that his servant was healed.

BUT the greatest thing we learn is that Jesus marvels at faith in the centurion.  He marvels at one who understands authority and thus understands the authority Jesus has over sickness and disease.  This centurion recognized one with authority, because he was used to authority both as one in charge and as one who submitted to authority.  I believe Jesus also marvels at the man’s desire for his servant to be healed.  That showed compassion and concern on the part of the centurion.

What was this centurion’s faith based on?  Jesus Word!  He told Jesus that all He had to do was speak the word, and it would be done.  The centurion said that it was a simple fact.  One who has authority speaks the command and expects it to be done.  So, he said:  Speak.  Whatever you speak will be carried out just like the ones under me carry out whatever I speak.  It was all about faith in the man called Jesus and the authority the centurion recognized He carried.  Most of Jesus’ fellow countrymen did not have a clue about that authority.  That is why Jesus marveled.

What a teaching on faith this scenario presents to us and what wonderful lessons we can learn about faith and healing and the word and authority.

Hallowed Be Thy Name, Part 1

We will spend quite a bit of time on God’s names, because they reveal His nature, the essence of His being.  As we study each name, pray and receive the benefits of that name for yourself.

God is EL ELYON or JEHOVAH ELYON, LORD GOD MOST HIGH.

El, strength, is singular for Elohim.  Elohim:  Creator, Sustainer, Mighty object of worship.  Eloheenu:  Our God.  Eloheka :  Thy God.  Elohay: My God.  Elyon: Supreme God or most loved God.

Genesis 14:19,20

…Blessed be Abram of the Most High God, Who has delivered your enemies into your hand….

We serve a God Who is Ruler over everything.  There is no one above Him.  He is the supreme God, God above all rule and authority and principality and power and every name that can be named.  He is the ultimate One to go to.  There is none above Him.

Ephesians 1:21, Amplified Bible

(He is) Far above all rule and authority and power and dominion and every name that is named [above every title that can be conferred], not only in this age and in this world, but also in the age and the world which are to come.

No wonder He can deliver us from our enemies.  They are under His authority.  Now here is something for you to chew on for a while.  So, also, are our enemies under our feet as the Body of Christ.  Jesus gave us all authority when He left this earth.  He told us that all authority was given unto Him, both in heaven and on earth; go ye therefore (Matthew 28:18,19).  That indicates to me that the implied understanding is that we can go in His authority.  He even told His disciples while He was here on this earth that He had given them the power or authority to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy (satan).  And nothing shall by any means harm or hurt you. (Luke 10:19).

God owns it all.  He is the Creator of heaven and earth and all that is in it.  God is great.  And yet, in all His greatness, He never imposes Himself or His power on anyone.  He waits to be invited to exercise His might on our behalf.  The Great Creator of you and me and everything we have and are waits on us to initiate the actions required to release His greatness on our behalf.

The Psalms say it all when the author, whether it be David or Asaph or another author of the Psalms praises the Mighty God.

Psalms 19:1; 24:1,2; 21:13;145:8,9

The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows and proclaims His handiwork.

The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness of it, the world and they who dwell in it.  For He has founded it upon the seas and established it upon the currents and the rivers.

Be exalted, LORD, in Your strength; we will sing and praise Your power.

The LORD is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and abounding in mercy and loving-kindness.  The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works [the entirety of things created].

Two Keys To Victory

In the past several weeks during my Bible study and prayer time, I have seen two keys to victory in this Christian walk.  Actually, they would apply to anyone.  The greatest key is thankfulness, having a heart of gratitude and the other one is calling.

Let me explain “calling.”  When we encounter a problem in our lives, we are not to focus on the problem and talk about it.  Rather, we are to call to ourselves what we want.  Are you sick?  Don’t discuss your ailments.  Call yourself healthy and well.  Do you lack money?  Don’t talk about how broke you are.  Call yourself prosperous.  Is your marriage failing?  Don’t talk about how bad things are to your best friend and berate your mate.  Rather, call your marriage one that is a healthy one.  Are your children out of the will of God?  Don’t discuss their failings and shortcomings with everyone.  Call them saved, full of the Spirit of God and serving Him with fire and passion.  Even in the natural, we call things which are not there.  If you want to feed the dog, you call him and he comes running to be fed.  Even so, if healing is not there, call it to you.  It will come.  It will materialize.  The one thing we must not do, though, is to get frustrated, quit and say it does not work, when it does not materialize instantly.

There is nothing like a heart of gratitude which focuses on the good things that you have.

If all we do is gripe and complain about what we don’t have, it opens the door for satan to come and steal even more from us.  Complaining is deadly.  It lost the Israelites their place of joy and brought death in the camp.  Complaining is serious business.  It will bring destruction to our lives.

My dear reader, there is power in our thoughts and in our words.  Let’s focus on the good and watch the bad disintegrate into dust that can be blown away in a moment of time.

Romans 4:17

(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth (quicken means, brings life to) the dead, and CALLETH THOSE THINGS WHICH BE NOT AS THOUGH THEY WERE.

1 Corinthians 15:57

But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 2:14

Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.

According to the two scriptures in Corinthians, do you see what thanksgiving does?  Thanksgiving gives us the victory and causes us to triumph in Christ and makes manifest or visible the sweet fragrance of the knowledge of God (the way He operates His Kingdom) for us and others.  Do you want victory in the situation in which you find yourself?  Then start being thankful for what you have.  It will open the door for God to move on your behalf and shut the door to satan’s tricks and destruction.

My greatest desire and pleasure is to do the Father’s will while I am here on this earth.

Thought of Wisdom 04-11-2013

Jesus’ greatest desire and pleasure while He was here on this earth was to do His Father’s will.  Also, your greatest desire and pleasure should be to do the Father’s will while you are here on this earth.  You do know your Father’s will.  You are His child.  What you must do is allow Him to pull that information up from within you to your mind, so that you can see clearly the path that you are to take in life.  My rule of thumb has always been this:  I do not do anything until I have heard from the Lord and have a peace inside me that doesn’t waver.  Until that time comes, I do nothing except continue to do what I am presently doing.

The Father’s Will

Jesus’ greatest desire and pleasure while He was here on this earth was to do His Father’s will.  He always delights to do His Father’s will.  In fact, when we look at John 6:38, Jesus said that He came down from heaven, not to do His own will, but the will of the Father that sent Him.  He goes on to say in verses 39 and 40 that the will of the Father is that people believe on Jesus and receive the Life of God into their lives.

In verse 40 in the Amplified Bible we read:  For this is My Father’s will and His purpose, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in and cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up [from the dead] at the last day.  In verse 47 Jesus said that He that believes on Me has everlasting life.

Your greatest desire and pleasure should be to do the Father’s will while you are here on this earth.  If you are having trouble determining what the will of the Father is for your life, below are some scriptures for you to confess over yourself daily. Some people may find that a little slow and want to move faster, but I have found that in God’s realm, time is no factor to Him.  It is only a factor to us here on this earth.

1 John 2:29

Christ is absolutely righteous, conforming to the Father’s will in purpose, thought and action.  Everyone who does righteousness, is therefore in like manner conformed to His divine will, is born of Him.

Christ, the Anointed One with His anointing, is in me as a born-again child of God.

He conforms to the Father’s will in purpose, thought and action.

Therefore, I conform to the Father’s will in purpose, thought and action.

Ephesians 5:17

I am not vague, thoughtless or foolish, but I understand and firmly grasp what the will of the Lord is.

God has a perfect plan for each one of us on this earth.  We were born to fulfill that plan.  That is His will for us.  I cannot tell you what the specific will of God is for your personal life.  You will have to seek the Lord until you know.  Each of us must spend time with Him to hear His voice and to proceed in the direction in which we believe He is leading us.  What if we make a mistake?  What if we don’t hear clearly?  That is the wonderful thing about our Lord.  He will guide us back into the right path.  But if we never go forward, how will we ever accomplish anything in our lives.  Forward motion produces action.  If that action is incorrect, God will correct our course.  He is an excellent course corrector, as well as the author of our course.  He is the Architect of the plan.  He is also the Builder.  He is the Master Architect and Builder.  We can trust Him to steer us in the right direction.
