Honor The Father

This is the week of Palm Sunday and Easter.  Let us especially remember all that Jesus has done for us.

Last week we talked about God’s great mercy and compassion.  We actually honor our Heavenly Father by speaking of His great mercy and compassion, of His loving-kindness.  We must think of God as only good and loving and only wanting to bless His children.  When we speak of God’s great love, we are praising Him and that praise turns the enemy back, causes him to stumble and works deliverance in our behalf.  Remember that Abraham grew strong and was empowered by faith as he gave praise and glory to God (Romans 4:20).

You don’t just praise and speak words of faith when you feel like it.  You do it all the time.  There is something about speaking of God’s great mercy and compassion that causes faith to rise up on the inside of you and the reality of God’s great love for you grows big in your spirit.

You must see God as yearning to heal you.  That must be the picture you have on the inside of you.  2 Chronicles 16:9 tells us that the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong in the behalf of those whose heart is perfect toward Him.  Moffatt’s Bible translation says that He is looking to exert His power on behalf of those who are devoted to Him.  The NIV Bible says that He is looking to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him.   God is looking for people to bless.  He is looking for ways to pour out His great love on you and me.

Suppose the huge Pacific Ocean were elevated high above us.  Then think of pressure into every crevice to find an outlet through which to pour the water of that great ocean on the earth.  The pressure finally becomes so great that the tsunami of water overtakes the earth.  That is a picture of God’s love.  His love is so great and so intense that He has to find outlets of His love to overtake and consume His children with His goodness and mercy.  One of the ways He expresses that goodness is in healing of our physical bodies.

We see so many instances of the Lord’s compassion in the scriptures.  Jesus healed the leper (Mark 1:40-45).  When He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion toward them because they fainted and were scattered abroad as sheep having no shepherd (Matthew 9:35-38).  Jesus was moved with compassion and healed the sick (Matthew 14:14).  Jesus had compassion on the blind men and touched their eyes, and they were made whole (Matthew 20:34).  The list goes on and on.

Even when Jesus left the earth we are reminded in Hebrews 4:15 that He is touched with the feelings of our infirmities.  Infirmities are the expression of our inability to produce results because of limitations imposed by our flesh.

In the story of the Good Samaritan we are reminded of the Lord’s compassion to pour in the oil (Holy Spirit) and the wine (His Word) to heal and make whole (Luke 10:33-37).  The good Samaritan had compassion on the man who was wounded and stripped by thieves.  In the same manner, Jesus has compassion on us who have been stripped by that thief satan (John 10:10) and wounded.  Like Jesus, the Samaritan bound up the man’s wounds, poured in oil and wine (healing) and took care of him, regardless of the cost.  He carried him on his own beast to a safe place at the inn.  Jesus is our safe place.  He has healing available for us.  The Samaritan paid the price for the man’s healing just as Jesus paid the price with His precious blood for our healing.  All we have to do is receive God’s mercy and compassion for us.  It is freely given.

Bodily healing is an expression of the mercy and compassion of God.

Prayer Moves God

My prayer for you during this time of Palm Sunday and Easter is that you will see the Christ of the Cross in a new, beautiful, loving way, that you see Jesus as your personal Savior, the One Who loves you so dearly that He delivers you from all the cares and woes this world would place on you.  He cares for you deeply.  His love for you is without measure.  I pray for a new picture of Jesus in your life.

Jesus said this to us in Mark 11:23,24:  “For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.  Therefore I say unto you, What things soever you desire, when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you shall have them.”

In these two verses Jesus told us that prayer does indeed move God, prayer in which you believe that God will move mountains for you.  But we see here that we have something to do with it also.  We are to SAY!  We are to say to the mountains of difficulty in our lives (a form of prayer):  Be removed and be gone!  Then we are to have confidence in our words producing results.  We are to believe God.  We are to trust Him to take care of what we said.  These are Jesus’ words.  He said that whatever we desire, when we pray, believe that we receive them and we SHALL HAVE them.  Does Jesus tell the truth?  Yes He does!  OK, then we can have what we pray or say.

In other words, God is saying:  When you ask Me to do something, you come into a legal covenant with me.  Believe that I will do it for you, that it will be done.  That is the kind of prayer that moves God.  You know your God.  He knows you.  You trust Him.  You commit it all to Him. You believe He takes care of it.  You go on your way and let Him handle it.  It is a carefree life.  All is well.

Since this is Easter week, let’s take a brief look at Jesus’ prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane.  One of the things I want to point out to you is that people take this prayer and say:  Well, that is the way we have to pray:  Lord, if it be Thy will.  No, this was a specific prayer of commitment regarding God’s will for Jesus’ life, not a prayer for healing or salvation or a prayer of petition.

Luke 22:39-46

Jesus went to the Mount of Olives and His disciples followed Him.

When they came to the place, he said to them:  Pray that you enter not into temptation.

He withdrew from them and kneeled down and prayed:  Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me:  nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.

And there appeared an angel to him from heaven, strengthening him.

And being in agony he prayed more earnestly and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow, and He said to them, Why sleep ye?  Rise and pray, lest you enter into temptation.

Even in the middle of His prayer to His Father that He stand firm and go the full course of the Father’s will and His will for the cross and all of its agony, He still prayed for His disciples that they enter not into temptation to deny their course.  His solution for them was that they pray.  What an admonition for all of us.  Pray, and you won’t submit to satan’s temptation to go in a different direction than God and His Word for you.

Prayer was designed by God to move Him in the direction of His Word that you have just prayed.  Pray His Word instead of your many fleshly words of the world.  He will answer His Word every time.

Healing Confession 03-24-2013

Thank You, Lord, that you are looking for ways to strengthen my body and keep me well.  I am so thankful that you are watching over me to keep me.  What an assurance it is to know that you are in me with your keeping power.  I am growing stronger every day as I give You praise and honor Your name.  You are the God that heals me.  You are the God Who makes me strong and healthy.

Today is Palm Sunday, the day when Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey, as the people shouted praises to God for their King.  Hosanna to the Son of David:  Blessed is He, the King, Who comes in the name of the Lord.  Hosanna.  Glory to God in the highest.

Jesus’ Triumphal Entry

Today is Palm Sunday, the day when Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey, as the people shouted praises to God for their King.  They thought He would reign on this earth as the earthly kings had reigned.  They were excited that at last they had a deliverer.  As we all know today, they totally misinterpreted what was about to happen a week later.  The disciples fled.  Everyone trembled with fear because He was crucified.  What they did not realize is that there would be a far greater kingly anointing that would come on them as a result of what He was about to do.  He was about to carry all man’s sin and sickness and disease and set us free forever to be whole spirit, soul and body.

We are going to summarize the scriptures from Luke 19:28-44 and Matthew 21:1-11 concerning Palm Sunday.

As Jesus was coming toward Jerusalem, He drew near to Bethphage and Bethany at the Mount of Olives and sent two of His disciples ahead, with these instructions:  “Go into yonder village.  When you get there, you will find a donkey’s colt tied (Luke) a donkey and a colt (Matthew), on which no man has ever yet sat.  Loose it and bring it here.  And if anyone asks you, why do you loose him, say to him:  Because the Lord has need of him.”  This was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet:  Say to the Daughter of Zion, Behold, your King is coming to you, lowly and riding on a donkey, and on a colt, the foal of a donkey (Isaiah 62:11; Zechariah 9:9).

The two disciples went their way and found it to be so even as He had told them.  As they were loosing the donkey and colt, its owners said to them:  “Why are you untying them?”  They said:  “The Lord has need of them.”  They brought the colt to Jesus and threw their garments over the colt and set Jesus upon it.

As He rode along, a very great multitude kept spreading their garments on the road; others cut down branches and scattered them on the road.  As He was approaching the city of Jerusalem, at the descent of the Mount of Olives, the crowds began to rejoice and to praise God loudly, saying: “Hosanna to the Son of David:  Blessed is He, the King, Who comes in the name of the Lord.  Hosanna.  Glory to God in the highest heaven.”  They were exalting Jesus for the mighty miracles and works of power that they had witnessed.

When Jesus came into Jerusalem, all the city trembled with excitement, saying, Who is This?  And the crowds replied:  This is the prophet Jesus from Nazareth of Galilee.  Of course, the Pharisees told Jesus to rebuke and reprove the crowds.  He replied to the Pharisees:  I tell you that if they keep silent, the very stones will cry out.

When He approached Jerusalem, He audibly wept over the city, knowing what would happen to the city and its inhabitants later.

Jesus’ disciples did not understand what was happening because they were looking only at the natural, fleshly circumstances.  Indeed, they truly believed that their King Messiah had come to set them free.  They were not able to see beyond the earthly, fleshly realm to realize that a greater spiritual freedom was about to be released on the earth for all mankind, which would surely result in physical freedom as well.

John 8:36:  “If the Son therefore shall make you free, you shall be free indeed.”

He whom the Son sets free is free indeed.

Words of Wisdom 03-23-2013

Nothing is impossible with God.

Let it be to me according to Your word, Lord God.

For with God nothing is ever impossible and no word from God shall be without power or impossible of fulfillment.

God’s True Word

Luke 1:38,37, Amplified Bible

Then Mary said, Behold I am the handmaiden of the Lord; let it be to me according to what you have said (your word, KJV)….

For with God nothing is ever impossible and no word from God shall be without power or impossible of fulfillment.

Hebrew 11:11, Amplified Bible

…(Sarah) considered [God] Who had given her the promise to be reliable and trustworthy and true to His word.

Personalized Confession:

I am like Mary and Sarah.  I consider God Who has given me His Word, His promise to be true to His Word.  He is faithful to His Word and to me with His Word.  I can rely on what He says.  He is not a man that He should lie.  I can trust Him.  What He says He means and He means what He says.  Let it be done unto me according to Your Word.  For with You God, nothing is impossible, and not one Word of Yours is without power or impossible of fulfillment.  Every Word of Yours is full of Your power and waiting to be fulfilled in my life.  Thank You, Lord, for Your powerful Word working in my life.
