God Is Our Rock, Part 6

Only God is an immovable Truth.  Everything else can change and move and be temporary, but not our God.  He is ever steadfast and true to Himself.  He is the Word of Truth.  There is none beside Him.  When we rest our confidence in Him, we are resting in a sure place, a place appointed by God for each one of His children.  We will dwell in the strength and might of our God.  He is our salvation, the One Who keeps us safe and delivers us and gives us the victory in life always.

Psalm 62:2,6-8

He only is my Rock and my Salvation, my Defense and my Fortress – I shall not be greatly moved.

He only is my Rock and my Salvation – He is my Defense and my Fortress – I shall not be moved.

With God rests my salvation and my glory – He is my Rock of unyielding and impenetrable hardness and my refuge is in God.

Trust in, lean on, rely on and have confidence in Him at all times, you people – pour out your hearts before Him – God is a refuge for us, a fortress and a high tower.

We can trust God.  We can pour out our hearts before Him, and He will be our hard rock, our place where there is no yielding to the pressures of the enemy.  When we are in the Lord, we shall not be moved from our position of strength and victory.

God is always with us, watching over us and our loved ones.  The only thing that will stop His protection is our doubt and our fear and our unbelief.  He has given us the power of choice.  Every day we make choices concerning our relationship with our God.  Sometimes the choices are made in the face of what seems like impossible situations.  Nevertheless, let’s make the choice to believe our God.

God Is My Rock, Part 5

As we continue with our study on God as our Rock, let’s remember that He is our refuge and shelter at all times, not just when we need Him.  He is always with us, ever watching over us and our loved ones.  He’s our protection.  There is only one thing that will stop that protection—-us.  If we don’t believe He is our protection and refuge, if we doubt that He is our shelter, then our doubt and our fear and our unbelief stop Him.  He has given us the power of choice.  Every day we make choices concerning our relationship with our God.  Sometimes the choices are made in the face of what seems like impossible situations.  Nevertheless, we make the choice to believe our God.

Psalm 61:1-6

…Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

For You have been a shelter and a refuge for me – a strong tower from the enemy.

I will dwell in Your tabernacle forever – let me find refuge and trust in the shelter of Your wings.

For You, O God, have heard my vows – You have given me the heritage of those who fear, revere and honor Your name.

May You prolong the true king’s life – adding days upon days – and may his years be to the last generation of this world and the generation of the world to come.

Forever, God is our Refuge!

God Is My Rock, Part 4

I am going to let today’s scripture on God as our Rock speak to each one of us.  Make this scripture a place of meditation today.  Think on it and believe the Word of God for you personally.

Psalm 31:3-5,7,13,14,17-21,23,24

You are my Rock and my Salvation.

…You are my Strength and my Stronghold.

…You have redeemed me, O Lord, the God of truth and faithfulness.

I will be glad and rejoice in Your mercy and steadfast love….

I have heard the slander of many – terror, fear is on every side – they schemed together against me – they plotted to take my life.

But I trusted in, relied on, and was confident in You, O Lord – I said:  You are my God.

Let me not be put to shame, O Lord, or disappointed, for I am calling upon You – let the wicked be put to shame – let them be silent in Sheol (the place of the dead).

Let the lying lips be silenced, which speak insolently against the righteous with pride and contempt.

O how great is Your goodness which You have laid up for those who reverence and worship You, goodness which You have wrought for those who trust and take refuge in You before the sons of men.

In the secret of Your Presence You hide them from the plots of men – You keep them secretly in Your pavilion from the strife of tongues.

Blessed be the Lord!  For He has shown me His marvelous loving favor….

O love the Lord all you His saints.  The Lord preserves the faithful and plentifully pays back him who deals haughtily.

Be strong and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for, hope for and expect the Lord.

Wherever you go and whatever you do and whatever is happening in your life, God is always there as your solid place of refuge.  He hides you in the shelter of His arms.  He will defend you and take care of you.  Trust Him at all times.  Yes, you can trust Him, even when it looks like nothing is happening to confirm your trust in Him.  Trust Him anyway.  He will come through for you.  I know.  Trusting the Lord is the key to your victorious life.

Prayer Teaching 02-03-2013

Effectual Prayer

James 5:16b, KJV, Amplified Bible, NEB, Moffatt’s, NLT

The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].

A good man’s prayer is powerful and effective.

The prayers of the righteous have a powerful effect.

The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and wonderful results.

Since James was a part of the household in which Jesus was born, I sit up and take notice to what he writes.  He lived with Jesus 24/7, as he grew up.  He heard and absorbed the words Jesus spoke, whether he knew who he was or not, at that time.  Words are powerful and lodge in your mind and eventually in your spirit and become a part of you.

So, listen up, everyone!  James says that our prayers as righteous people produce powerful results.  Yet so many Christians feel like they can’t pray like the preacher in the pulpit or the intercessor who spends hours a day in prayer.  You and I as “ordinary” Christians have the same Jesus as our Savior and Lord, the same Holy Spirit residing on the inside of us.  He is the One Who directs our prayers.  It is not we who direct our prayers.  Maybe your words don’t sound as eloquent as some others.  So what!  God does not analyze your every word.  Talk with Him.  Speak what He says.  Speak His Word.

The first thing we must establish here is that you are righteous if you have accepted Jesus as your Savior.  You have right standing with God.  You have His ear open to your requests.  He has given you rights in His Kingdom.  One of those rights is prayer, communication with Him, and results being produced from that communication.

What is effectual prayer?  The Greek word used here is energeo.  Do you see an English word in this?  Of course you do.  The word is energy.  Your prayer as God’s child is energizing, producing God’s results, working and operating in His Kingdom with His Word, by the Holy Spirit of God.  Yes, your prayer!  Not your best friend’s or your pastor’s, but YOUR PRAYER!

I want to encourage you today.  Pray, talk to God all the time.  He wants to be your best friend.  He loves to be with you and discuss your life.  When you are washing dishes, taking out the trash, shopping, going to meetings, working in the office, cleaning house, taking care of children, having a date with your spouse or girlfriend/boyfriend, wherever you are and whatever you are doing, God wants to be “in on it.”  Talk to Him about everything.  He is a good listener.  But also you be a good listener when He wants to speak.  He knows a whole lot more than you do.  So do more listening than you do talking.

Your prayers are effective; they are mighty; they work; they produce results.  According to Webster’s 1828 Dictionary, effectual means producing the effect desired or intended or having adequate power or force to produce the effect.  Wow!  Look at that!  Mighty man or woman of God, when you pray, your prayers produce the effect desired.  God has given you His power to produce the effect intended.  Believe in yourself as much as God does.  Know that your prayers are powerful.  Receive God’s encouragement and know that your Godly prayers are producing results.  Believe it!  Receive it!  Have it!
