PEACE AND VICTORY
Are you ready for victory? Are you ready to walk in victory in 2013? OK, let’s do something about it.
In chapter 15 of 1 Corinthians at the end of the chapter Paul talks to us about death and sin and our perishable bodies and this perishable world and our being delivered from it to heaven. What most of us fail to realize is that Paul is not only talking to us about what waits for us but he is also encouraging us while we are here on this earth. We have need for victory right now. In verse 57 he says: “But thanks be to God, Who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Again, in 2 Corinthians 2:14 he says: “Now thanks be to God, Who always causes us to triumph in Christ, and makes manifest the savor of His knowledge by us in every place.”
The Apostle John in 1 John 5:4,5 tells us that we who are born of God overcome the world. This is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcomes the world? It is he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.
What does the scripture say makes us world overcomers? Our victory that overcomes the world is our faith—-faith in what or who? Faith in God and His ability to take care of us and keep things complete and whole for our lives. We overcome the world by believing that Jesus is the Son of God. Well, as the Son of God, He is our Prince of Peace, our source of completeness and wholeness.
When we know who we are in God, we have a sense of well-being, which is as far as most people go in defining peace. That sense of well-being comes from knowing who we are and that we are whole in the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the One Who delivers us, gives us safety, heals us, prospers us, sets us free, makes things OK for us. In other words, He keeps our lives all in one piece by His peace, SHALOM, wholeness. No more little pieces and fragments for us! We are One with Him, Who is the Prince of Peace.
We are always victorious in Him. As He is, so are we in this world (1 John 4:17). How is He? He is joyful, full of love, healthy, successful, lively, and victorious. There you go! That is who you are also because as He is, so are you in this world. Here is the really good part. In that verse, it says that perfect love (Jesus) casts out fear. No more fear to those who know who Jesus is in them and who they are in Him. This is looking better and better all the time. Glory to God!
A person who goes into prayer, knowing that he/she is praying from the victory side already has won because Jesus has won the victory for us. There is a great difference in praying to get something and hoping that somehow or other God will come through for you and praying, knowing that the Lord has already taken care of it for you ahead of time and trusting Him to work it all out for you. That is victory prayer.
I will close with (as you have discovered) two of my favorite scriptures, which you see much in my teachings.
John 16:33 and Luke 10:19, Amplified Bible
I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.]
Behold! I have given you authority and power to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and [physical and mental strength and ability] over all the power that the enemy [possesses]; and nothing shall in any way harm you.
AUTHORITY AND POWER, PART 11
Today we wrap up our teaching on God’s authority and power in us.
Ephesians 1:17-23 and Ephesians 3:14-21 tell us about the dunamis, resurrection power we have dwelling in us, the love power of God. Therein is the dwelling place of our authority and power. God’s divine love is the greatest power in the universe. Out of that love pours forth the dunamis, explosive, resurrection power of God. Because of that power, there is authority brought forth. God is Almighty, and He is dwelling in us with all of His might. He gives us His authority and tells us it is ours to use as His children.
We see in 1 John 4:17 that our love (God’s Love in us) is made perfect that we may have boldness in the day of judgment because as He is, so are we in this world. How is He? He is all-powerful. He is Love. He is all power and all authority. There is none higher than He is. There is none above Him. He is in charge. As He is—-Love—-so are we in this world.
Finally, according to Ephesians 6:10, we are strong in the Lord. We are empowered through our union with Him. We draw our strength from Him, that strength which His boundless might provides.
Through our union with the Lord Jesus Christ we have been given the power of God to exercise His authority over all the earth. Just as God spoke to Adam in Genesis 1, we have been given dominion over the earth. Let’s exercise that authority under the authority of God Almighty and at His direction. It is all about being led of the Spirit of God and not by our own human desires. It is He alone Who knows how to “run things.” Yield to Him and use the authority He has given you.
Are you ready to walk in victory in 2013? OK, let’s do something about it. Our victory that overcomes the world is our faith in God and His ability to take care of us and keep things complete and whole for our lives. We overcome the world by believing that Jesus is the Son of God. Well, as the Son of God, He is our Prince of Peace, our source of completeness and wholeness.
ENFORCER
Last week we talked about what Jesus accomplished on the cross for us. Now it is up to you and me to enforce what Jesus purchased for us, to fight the good fight of faith and to rest in the finished work of the cross, doing whatever the Holy Spirit tells us to do to enforce the victory won over our enemy the devil and all of his demonic activities..
Enforcement is what it is all about, and if you don’t know anything about what God through His Son Jesus has purchased for you, you are a pawn in the game of life just like anybody else out here in this world without God. The authority that God has given you over the devil and his works and demonic forces is not passive or automatic. It must be enforced on your enemy. Through ignorance the Body of Christ has allowed the devil to steal their authority and whip them with it and control the rest of the earth with it.
We are going to review two of the scriptures we discussed last week. In Galatians 3:13 we are told that Christ has redeemed us or released us from the curse of the law. In order to find out what the curse of the law is, go back to Deuteronomy 28 and read what the curse is. It basically covers three areas: sin, sickness and disease, and poverty. In our present study, we are focusing on sickness and disease. Jesus has redeemed or released us from the curse of sickness and disease. In Psalm 107:2 we are told as the redeemed of the Lord to say so: We have been delivered from the hand, the power, the strength of the enemy. How did God deliver us from the hand of the enemy? He sent His Word (Jesus the living Word and His written Word as well) and delivered us from our destructions (Psalm 107:20).
Now, Jesus is in heaven, seated at the right hand of the Father and He is saying to us —- “You are sharing in My triumph over the enemy.” As we discussed last week, we get to be a part of the parade of triumph over the enemies of darkness (Colossians 2:15) Every day we get the privilege of demonstrating the victory Jesus has won for us. We are the reinforcers of that victory in our own lives. We share Jesus’ triumph. We bring glory to God by reinforcing that triumph. We make known, reveal the sweet savor of Jesus’ triumph in our own walk.
Jesus won the victory over sickness and disease. By faith, we appropriate, receive the spoils (the goods taken from the enemy) by Jesus’ triumph. Jesus took back our health for us. The enemy wants to keep us in bondage to sickness and disease. Jesus rescued us and gave us freedom from the bondage of sickness and disease, which is bondage to our enemy, satan. Now, it is up to us to keep the health that Jesus has purchased for us with His own blood and body.
Romans 8:38
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
One who is more than a conqueror receives what the conqueror got, without the battle. God tells us in His Word that the battle is the Lord’s; God’s grace has given us the victory. Our battle is to maintain what the conqueror Jesus gave us and not let it be stolen from us. Our battle is a different battle; it is the battle which rages in our minds and emotions and wills (our soul). We must deliberately determine (our wills) that we stand our ground and don’t give an inch to satan when we are hurting and have symptoms running rampant throughout our bodies. We must daily and deliberately confess, read, meditate, think on, ponder (our minds) God’s Word instead of our own fleshly thoughts, which are non-productive to enforce satan’s defeat and Jesus’ victory. We must deliberately, on purpose, determine that our feelings (our emotions) do not control us. Instead we determine that God’s Word and Spirit lead us.
Jesus has graced or given us the victory of health and healing. It is our privilege and responsibility to enforce that victory.
Know who you are in Christ Jesus. Nothing that opposes you will be successful. Let that reality sink down deep into you and give you confidence. Remember 1 John 4:4. We are of God. We are His children. We belong to Him. As His children, we have already defeated and overcome the agents of antichrist because greater, mightier is He Who is in us than he that is in the world
AUTHORITY AND POWER, PART 10
Isaiah 54:17, Amplified Bible
But no weapon that is formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment you shall show to be in the wrong. This [peace, righteousness, security, triumph over opposition] is the heritage of the servants of the Lord…. . . .
Even in the Old Testament God assured His people that they had authority over that which rose up against them in judgment, against them in opposition. As they were told, the battle was not theirs, but the Lord’s. He does protect His own. Now He has given us His authority and His power to defeat any weapon formed against us. No weapon formed against us shall prosper or succeed. Why? When someone or something comes against you, he or she comes against God. He is our defender and our vindicator.
Look at the next statement in that verse. We have a heritage. What does God’s authority and power give us? It gives us peace, which is shalom, which means that all is well, that we are whole, and that nothing is missing or broken in our lives. It gives us righteousness; we have been made right with God because of the blood of Jesus Christ. He has given us the rights that are ours as God’s children. It gives us security. We are secure in Christ Jesus. We know that He takes care of us. It gives us triumph over opposition. What is it that is opposing you today? Is it sickness and disease? Is it poverty? Is it fear? Is it unbelief? Is it a temptation you can’t seem to overcome? Is it lack in some area of your life? Whatever it is that opposes you, God has given you His authority to overcome. You are an overcomer in this life by Christ Jesus.
Know who you are in Christ Jesus. Nothing that opposes you will be successful. Let that reality sink down deep into you and give you confidence. Remember 1 John 4:4. We are of God. We are His children. We belong to Him. As His children, we have already defeated and overcome the agents of antichrist because greater, mightier is He Who is in us than he that is in the world.
I am a child of God and know who I am in Christ Jesus
AUTHORITY AND POWER, PART 9
We know our authority over the kingdom of satan because Christ has set us free from the curse of the law. He has given us total freedom from the curse. What is the curse? If we look in Deuteronomy 28 we have a list of the things that come from the curse. They can be summed up in three words: sin, sickness, and poverty. Each of these bring death. Death is separation from something. Sin is separation from the righteousness of God. Sickness is separation from the health of God. Poverty is separation from the prosperity of God. God’s original intent was for us to be blessed with His Blessing. That is still true today. Jesus opened up the way for The Blessing of God to be available to us again. We as God’s children should expect to walk in that Blessing.
Galatians 3:13,14,16,29
Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us; for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangs on a tree: that the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. And if you be Christ’s, then are you Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Our inheritance, our right, is to have The Blessing of God, which is The Blessing of Righteousness, The Blessing of Health and Healing, and The Blessing of Prosperity operating in our lives all the time. When that is not the case, we have God’s command to take authority over anything that is robbing us of our blessing or blocking our blessing. We must be open to His instruction, because sometimes the blocking of the blessing is on our part because we are ignorant of our inheritance or we are afraid it won’t work for us or we feel like we are not worthy of it. Of course we are not worthy of it. BUT, JESUS CHRIST MADE US WORTHY! It is because of Him that we have these benefits of the Kingdom of God.
What part of The Blessing do you need to be operating in your life today? Take authority over the devil who is trying to keep it from you. You have been set free from the curse that the blessing may be upon you. Enjoy your Blessing!
Jesus Christ has made me worthy to receive the benefits of the Blessing of the Kingdom of God.
