{"id":2470,"date":"2013-03-29T00:15:23","date_gmt":"2013-03-29T04:15:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kspministries.org\/wordpress\/?p=2470"},"modified":"2013-03-01T00:16:21","modified_gmt":"2013-03-01T05:16:21","slug":"pearls-of-wisdom-03-29-2013","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.kspministries.org\/wordpress\/2013\/03\/29\/pearls-of-wisdom-03-29-2013\/","title":{"rendered":"Pearls of Wisdom 03-29-2013"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Jesus Before Pilate and Herod<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Matthew 27:1-31; Mark 15:1-20; Luke 23:1-25; John 18:28-40, 19:1-16<\/p>\n<p>As Jesus stood before the governor, Pilate asked Him: \u00a0\u201cAre you the King of the Jews?\u201d\u00a0 Jesus answered him:\u00a0 \u201cAre you saying this on your own initiative or have others told you about Me? It is just as you say.\u00a0 I AM!\u201d\u00a0 Pilate\u2019s reply was:\u00a0 \u201cAm I a Jew?\u00a0 Your own people and nation and their chief priests have delivered You to me.\u00a0 What have you done?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jesus answered:\u00a0 \u201cMy kingdom is not of this world.\u00a0 If my kingdom were of this world, then My followers would have been fighting to keep me from being handed over to the Jews.\u00a0 But as it is, My kingdom is not from this world.\u201d \u00a0Pilate said to Him:\u00a0 \u201cThen are You a King?\u201d\u00a0 Jesus answered:\u00a0 \u201cYou say that I am a king.\u00a0 This is why I was born, and for this purpose I have come into the world, to bear witness to the Truth.\u00a0 Everyone who is of the Truth hears My voice.\u201d\u00a0 Pilate said to Jesus: \u00a0\u201cWhat is truth?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When he had said this, Pilate went out again to the Jews and said to them:\u00a0 \u201cI find in Him no fault at all.\u201d\u00a0 But they were the more fierce and emphatic, saying:\u00a0 \u201cHe stirs up and excites the people, teaching throughout all Judea, from Galilee, where He began, even to this place.\u201d\u00a0 Upon hearing this, Pilate asked whether the man was a Galilean.\u00a0 And when he found out certainly that He belonged to Herod\u2019s jurisdiction, he sent Him to Herod, who was also in Jerusalem in those days.<\/p>\n<p>And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceedingly glad, for he had eagerly desired to see Him for a long time because of what he had heard concerning Him.\u00a0 He was hoping to witness some miracle done by Jesus.\u00a0 Then he asked Him many questions, but Jesus answered him nothing.\u00a0 Meanwhile, the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused Jesus.\u00a0 Herod with his soldiers, treated Him with contempt and scoffed at and ridiculed Him; then, dressing Him up in bright and gorgeous apparel, he sent Him back to Pilate.<\/p>\n<p>Pilate then called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people.\u00a0 He said to them:\u00a0 \u201cYou brought this man before me as One Who was perverting and misleading and turning away and corrupting the people; and behold, after examining Him before you, I have not found any guilt in this man in regard to your accusations against Him.\u00a0 No, nor indeed did Herod, for he sent Him back to us; behold, He has done nothing deserving of death.\u00a0 I will therefore chastise Him and release Him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pilate said what he said because at the Feast of Passover, the governor was in the habit of setting free one prisoner whom the people chose.\u00a0 At this time there was a notorious robber and murderer named Barabbas whom they held as prisoner.\u00a0 So when they had assembled for this purpose, Pilate said to them:\u00a0 \u201c Whom do you want me to set free for you, Barabbas, or Jesus Who is called Christ?\u201d\u00a0 For Pilate knew that it was because of envy that they had handed Jesus over to him.\u00a0 The chief priests and the elders prevailed on the people to ask for Barabbas and put Jesus to death.\u00a0 \u201cAway with this man!\u00a0 Release to us Barabbas!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Again, the governor said to them:\u00a0 \u201cWhich of the two do you wish me to release for you?\u201d\u00a0 They said:\u00a0 \u201cBababbas!\u201d\u00a0 Pilate said to them:\u00a0 \u201cThen what shall I do with Jesus Who is called Christ, the King of the Jews?\u2019\u00a0 They all shouted and kept shouting back at him:\u00a0 \u201cLet Him be crucified!\u00a0 Crucify Him!\u00a0 Crucify Him!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And Pilate said:\u00a0 \u201cWhy?\u00a0 What has He done that is evil?\u00a0 What wrong has He done?\u00a0 I have found no guilt in Him, nothing deserving of death. \u00a0What I will do is chastise Him and release Him.\u201d\u00a0 But they were insistent and urgent, demanding with loud shouts:\u00a0 \u201cLet Him be crucified!\u201d\u00a0 Pilate said unto them:\u00a0 \u201cTake Him and crucify Him, for I find no fault in Him.\u00a0 The Jews answered him:\u00a0 \u201cWe have a law, and by our law He ought to die, because He made Himself the Son of God.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jesus Before Pilate and Herod Matthew 27:1-31; Mark 15:1-20; Luke 23:1-25; John 18:28-40, 19:1-16 As Jesus stood before the governor, Pilate asked Him: \u00a0\u201cAre you the King of the Jews?\u201d\u00a0 Jesus answered him:\u00a0 \u201cAre you saying this on your own initiative or have others told you about Me?
