{"id":2464,"date":"2013-03-26T00:12:04","date_gmt":"2013-03-26T04:12:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.kspministries.org\/wordpress\/?p=2464"},"modified":"2013-03-01T00:13:02","modified_gmt":"2013-03-01T05:13:02","slug":"pearls-of-wisdom-03-26-2013","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.kspministries.org\/wordpress\/2013\/03\/26\/pearls-of-wisdom-03-26-2013\/","title":{"rendered":"Pearls of Wisdom 03-26-2013"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Last Supper<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Matthew 26:17-29; Mark 14:12-31; Luke 22:1-38; John 13:1-38<\/p>\n<p>Before the Passover began, Jesus knew that the time had come for Him to leave this world and return to His Father.\u00a0 He loved those who were His own in the world to the last and highest degree.<\/p>\n<p>Then came the Passover.\u00a0 Jesus sent Peter and John to go and prepare the Passover meal.\u00a0 They asked Him where they were to go to prepare it.\u00a0 He said to them:\u00a0 \u201cWhen you enter into the city, there you will meet a man carrying a pitcher of water.\u00a0 Follow him into the house he enters and say to the master of the house:\u00a0 The Master asks you: \u00a0Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover meal with my disciples, for my time is near?\u00a0 And he will show you a large room upstairs, furnished with carpets and couches properly spread.\u00a0 Make the preparations there.\u201d\u00a0 And they went and found the room just as He said it would be, and they made ready the Passover.<\/p>\n<p>When the hour was come (evening), Jesus sat down with His 12 disciples and said to them:\u00a0 \u201cI have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.\u00a0 For I say to you that I shall eat it no more until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And He took the cup and when He had given thanks, He said:\u00a0 \u201cTake this and distribute it among yourselves.\u00a0 For I say to you that from now on I shall not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.\u201d This was Messiah\u2019s cup that no one had ever taken at the Passover feast before.\u00a0 It had remained for Messiah.<\/p>\n<p>And He took the bread and gave thanks, and broke it and gave it to them saying:\u00a0 \u201cTake, eat, this is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In like manner He took the cup (this is the communion cup) after supper saying:\u00a0 \u201cThis cup is the New Testament or Covenant ratified in My blood which is shed, poured out for you.\u00a0 But behold, he who is about to betray Me is with Me on the table.\u00a0 For the Son of Man is going as it has been determined and appointed, but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed and delivered up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The disciples began to inquire among themselves which of them it was who was about to do this.\u00a0 Then an eager contention arose among them as to who was the greatest among them.\u00a0 Jesus rebuked them, saying that he who is the greatest is he who serves.\u00a0 He talked to them of their future in the Father\u2019s kingdom.\u00a0 Then He told Peter of satan\u2019s desire to have him, but Jesus would take care of Him.\u00a0 Of course, Jesus was referring to Peter\u2019s denial of Him three times.<\/p>\n<p>Supper being ended, Jesus got up, laid aside His garments, took a servant\u2019s towel, and fastened it around His waist.\u00a0 Then He poured water into the washbasin and began to wash the disciples\u2019 feet and wipe them with the towel.\u00a0 When He came to Simon Peter, Peter did not want Him to wash his feet as he thought it was too demeaning for Jesus, their leader.\u00a0 Jesus rebuked him and told him that unless He washed his feet, Peter would have no part in Jesus.\u00a0 Of course, Peter being Peter said: \u00a0\u201cOh, then wash my whole body.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jesus spoke to His disciples after He had washed their feet.\u00a0 \u201cDo you know what I have done to you?\u00a0 Let me tell you what I have done.\u00a0 I have given you an example.\u00a0 The servant is not greater than his Master.\u00a0 I Whom you call Lord and Master have washed your feet.\u00a0 You also ought to wash one another\u2019s feet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Love serves because it wants to, not because it has to!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Last Supper Matthew 26:17-29; Mark 14:12-31; Luke 22:1-38; John 13:1-38 Before the Passover began, Jesus knew that the time had come for Him to leave this world and return to His Father.\u00a0 He loved those who were His own in the world to the last and highest degree.
